Message From Grandview Children’s Centre Chair and CEO

The 2020 to 2021 Grandview Kids Year in Review showcases a year like no other in our history.

The successes, innovation, compassion, connection and response of #TeamGrandview to the clients and their families during the COVID-19 pandemic have inspired and lifted our community in challenging times. We cannot discount the detrimental toll the pandemic has had on our community at large, yet we are proud of our sustained commitment to connect and serve. In these pages, you will learn how the COVID-19 pandemic has been a powerful catalyst for change that allowed us not only to realize but surpass the annual objectives of “Building on Excellence,” our Strategic Plan.

This report highlights the impact we have had on the organization and the community we serve by accelerating the adoption of virtual practice, challenging outdated policies and procedures, and embedding extensive safety practices. We harnessed all the power and passion of #TeamGrandview to respond to the pandemic; now, looking ahead, we turn our attention to recovery and reclaiming all that we strive to be at Grandview Kids. 

The Grandview Kids Board of Trustees once again led the organization with confidence and expert guidance. The challenges of the past year were met with an unwavering commitment to demonstrate our mission, vision and values in our response to the pandemic.

Thank you to the Trustees for their dedication, time and skill to govern in new ways over digital and virtual platforms. A special thank you to Andra Duff-Woskosky, Chair, Priorities and Performance Committee and Chris Chadwick, Chair, Governance Excellence Committee, who served with distinction and have completed their terms on the Board at Grandview. We are appreciative of their valuable contributions, teaching and leadership.

Thank you to the Grandview Children’s Foundation for connecting new and old friends to the wonderful work at Grandview Kids and raising the urgently needed funds to create opportunities otherwise not realized for children, youth, and families. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted many lives, and our community’s generosity to support Grandview Kids during such disruption remains inspiring. Thank you to each donor and supporter.
